Jon B. Fisher

Statement from the Board of Directors, Chairman Jon B. Fisher

The Board of Directors is dedicated, laser focused, and committed to ensuring that Bay.org / Aquarium of the Bay achieves the highest level of operational excellence and extraordinary animal care through decisive action during this pivotal time.

Immediate actions include: 1) the forced resignations of the former President and CEO, and the Treasurer of the Board of Directors; 2) a forensic audit of the organizations’ corporate books and records; 3) the establishment of a Board transition committee; 4) the appointment of a senior staff leadership transition team; 5) the acquisition of pro bono legal services from Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe; 6) the classification of immediate priorities to enhance animal care and address urgent fiscal obligations; 7) the relocation of staff from offsite rented offices to workspace at the Aquarium; and 8) plans to launch the search for a new President and CEO for Bay.org.

Working collaboratively with the transition team, we are on an aggressive path to preserve and protect the future of Bay.org and the Aquarium. Pending the results of the forensic audit, the Board expressly reserves all rights to pursue claims against any officer or director who is found to have engaged in financial malfeasance.
